Les Eaux Primordiales

The founder of the emerging French niche fragrance brand Les Eaux Primordiales is Arnaud Poulain, an engineer and artist. The perfumes are created in the Haut-de-France countryside in northern France, where Poulain grew up in a family of farmers and artisans.

He began studying perfumery after completing his studies in mechanical engineering, and together with his previous teacher, perfumer Amélie Bourgeois, they created the Les Eaux Primordials fragrance line.

The Primordial Estate, a historic castle constructed in the 1800s, is home to Les Eaux Primoridales' Manufacture de Parfums.

Journey

Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, one of Arnaud's favorite books, and the reference to primordial waters—"the purest of waters, the foundations of the first signs of life on Earth"—were the inspiration for the very name of Les Eaux Primordiales.

In addition, he sought to incorporate elements of his heritage, including his grandfather's agricultural work, his native Pas-de-Calais, and his enthusiasm for architecture and mechanics—the kind of first-hand authenticity that results from assembling and caring for complex, moving components that have to function as a unit.
