Bergamot, despite its origins in China, is known to be an Italian citrus fruit. It is unfortunate that the creator who crossed a lemon tree with a bitter orange to produce Bergamot is unknown, unlike Clément who invented the clementine and was honored. Italian merchants managed to sell Bergamot to the Chinese Market, adding fragrance to their second-rate tea, which they then sold back to the English Market.
Jean-Claude Ellena, when asked about his olfactory preferences, had always claimed to have none, concealing the manipulations he performed on fragrances, as the work of a perfumer is like that of an illusionist. However, he admits to having preferences that vary according to his needs and desires. He has passing loves, as well as solid, perennial loves, among which is his love for Bergamot. And so, it was time for him to make his official declaration of love for Bergamot.
